“Gear provider didn’t give us the correct cables for the transmitters, luckily one of the crew carries an obscene amount of adapters. This is legit, had to play around with it a bit but we eventually got it to work!”

Mini Water Heater

“This light bulb was found in a pendant fixture with no globe. The filament had failed, but current was passing through the water, making it warm.

“A faint arcing noise was present. When removed, there was no opening in the base of the bulb and no water leaked out. Hard to explain!”

What the …?

Reblog from my other Tumblr, Home Inspection Nightmares, which reposts the This Old House feature in an easily navigable format. Because the best way to feel better about yourself and your abilities is to look at some of those examples and realize that somebody either a) thought it was a good idea, or b) got paid to do that.

The first innovative bicycle path in the Netherlands will be paved with light stones that will charge during the day and emit light during the evening. The path will run by the home that Vincent van Gogh lived in from 1883-5

I’m really interested in seeing what kind of technology is behind these glowing stones and how long they’ll last.

Found it! It’s a product called Starpath from a UK company called Pro-Teq. No details on durability or how long the UV-absorbing materials will last.

Man, I wish this was around nine years ago when I was in grad school. It would have made on of my outdoor lighting projects much more feasible.
