Dialect Quiz
One of the blogs I follow linked to a rather thorough dialect quiz from North Carolina State University. There’s a 25 question short form and the full 140 question quiz. Much better results from the full quiz; the short form had me coming from the other side of the country.

Not that different than the one I did back in January.
A couple of quizzes

You are Death. You love to try new things and in spite of your occupation, you’re actually quite fond of people. However, you don’t get much of a chance to talk to them outside of work, and what’s more, many people fear you. At least you have the Death of Rats to keep you company.

Economic score: -3.61
Social score: -5.22
Your score pegs you as economically moderately leftist and socially libertarian.
Moderate economic leftists generally support regulation of free trade and business to assure that workers are fairly treated and prices remain stable.
Social libertarians generally believe that the government should not judge morality, and are generally against the illegalization of things that do not directly affect other people in a negative way. Many strong social libertarians may also be social progressives, favouring legislation to correct what they see as socially backwards governmental regulation, although some simply wish for the government to make little judgment on social matters.
I like how the area I live in now is decidedly *not* included in these two adjacent regions

Northern. Whether you have the world famous Inland North accent of the Great Lakes area, or the radio-friendly sound of upstate NY and western New England, your accent is what used to set the standard for American English pronunciation (not much anymore now that the Inland North sounds like it does).
I could have told you that
