Went to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with Gill and Nicole after work. Great movie, I’m glad we got to see it in the theatre. Spoiler-type stuff after the cut.
A new kind of evil
This is just wrong. I just got The Bourne Identity in the mail from NetFlix. Put it in the DVD player, no previews, straight to the menu. Great. Hit play, and I’m greeted with…. previews. Gah.
Didn’t realize I’d seen so many of these

Buckaroo Who, Dr. Bonzai
So listening to the extras on my recently purchased Buckaroo Bonzi DVD, I had a revelation. With the return of Dr. Who imminent, it occured to me that Buckaroo Bonzai is the American version of Dr. Who. Eccentric scientist type, multi-talented, saves the world regularly. Both are so steeped in their respective cultures they’re regularly indecipherable to outsiders. Deep background involved in the backstory. There’s more, but I need to think it through.
The Triplets of Belleville – Finally!
I finally got to see this movie on Friday. I went with Sammi after she got out of work to the New Art Theatre in downtown Champaign. I’m so glad I finally got to see it. It really was a great movie. Slower than you would have expected from watching the trailer, but fun nonetheless. Very French. Very little dialogue. Wonderful music and animation.
Finally! At fucking last!

Finally. I’ve been waiting to see this movie for almost a year, ever since I first heard about it. It’s being released in November, right near Thanksgiving break. I can go see it with Gill, that would be awesome.
For anyone who follows these links, the American trailer up at the Apple site doesn’t hold a candle to the original French one, which is almost a mini-film in and of itself. If you ask nicely enough, I can burn a copy of that and send it along. I’ve heard wonderful things about this movie from so many different film festivals. I can hardly wait.
