Cassetteboy vs The News – YouTube
Too funny – resplicing the BBC news gives us a world where Scotland has set the minimum drinking standards throughout the EU.

How Bots Seized Control of My Pricing Strategy

I love these competing bot stories. Great way to illustrate how much of the
modern world is actually outside our control.

“Real” users vs “fake” users
This comment in the latest news post epitomizes what ticks me off so badly about the site vs. user conflicts of the last couple years – the idea that anyone who uses the site differently than you do is not a “real” user of LiveJournal. It’s bad enough when it’s LiveJournal, the corporate identity, that’s making assumptions and being dismissive of alternate users, but when it’s coming from fellow users it’s particularly galling.
My opinion has always been that anyone who logs into LJ in any way is a real user of LJ. Whether they’re here to keep a journal, leave comments, or read a friend’s entries they’re all equally valid users.
Crazy!
For some reason, I had Gnarls Barkley and Adele merged into one singer in my head.

I can’t tell if this is stupid, given Australia’s history of invasive species, or crazy awesome.
All LJ-specific tags
This is a not-very-brief reference guide to every LiveJournal specific tag and markup that you can use in an entry. Many of them can be used simply by pressing a button in the Rich Text Editor, but some of them have to be added in via the HTML editor. This guide explains how to use them all with the HTML editor.
Please feel free to spread this around using the repost button you’ll find in the repost section.

The Cut
Let’s start with the most used, the most popular, the most misunderstood and misused lj-tag: the cut. An LJ-cut is a way to hide part of your entry when readers view it on your recent entries or day view pages, or when your friends view it on their friends page.
This is a cut. Click it to see more information.
