Night Vale
After seeing all the hype I downloaded the first five episodes to see what was going on. I’m going to guess someone here is listening, so I’ve got a question: When does it get good? How many episodes do I need to give it? What I’ve heard so far just reminds me of peyote-influenced X-Files fanfiction, so I assume it doesn’t hit its stride until later in the series.

Shout-Out!
Awesome, I got a shout out on the latest episode of Kevin and Ursula Eat Cheap. Listen around the 10:20 mark.

Just what it says on the tin. Also includes a nice discussion about how the pursuit of rights for lgbtqa people in First World nation is having an averse impact on those elsewhere.

Oooh, this’ll be interesting. I hope they’re making a more faithful adaptation of the book as opposed to the Studio Ghibli film from a few years ago.

I absolutely love the way this newspaper has developed their online edition. There’s still a regular website, but you can also access an electronic version of the physical newspaper. Pages are laid out just like they are on paper, you can zoom in and scroll around, double click to get a copy/pasteable version, and can share a link to that specific article. Advertisers in the physical edition get their ad placed in the electronic edition as well and it even includes a one-click translation service.

A specific article in today’s e-edition. I wonder if this link will still work in a couple weeks.

I’m really interested in seeing what kind of technology is behind these glowing stones and how long they’ll last.
Found it! It’s a product called Starpath from a UK company called Pro-Teq. No details on durability or how long the UV-absorbing materials will last.
Man, I wish this was around nine years ago when I was in grad school. It would have made on of my outdoor lighting projects much more feasible.
The era of my cyber-arm is rapidly drawing to a close
And I couldn’t be happier. I had another follow-up appointment with the doctor on Monday. According to him my x-rays look good, so we’re scheduling the surgery to remove my fixator as soon as possible. With luck I’ll have it off before Thanksgiving. It’s been an interesting experience having this device attached to my arm.
