Had a great time this past weekend, starting with the Rifftrax: Night of the Shorts 5 on Thursday. I got to the Castro Ttheatre about twenty minutes early, had to park about six blocks up the hill, and found a seat just before the show started. Great show, lots of fun. My favorite short was definitely "Live and Learn", a 50's era PSA about childhood accidents. After the show I got Paul F Tompkins’ signature in my Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel, and then I had to walk six blocks back up the hill to get to the car. That last block was a killer.

Yeah, I think we’d move there if the opportunity presented itself.

I do remember the last times went dancing. It was the Monday before Christmas at the holiday party for the Livermore branch of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. As beginners Gillian and I only know a few dances, and I was feeling a bit ill as well so I only danced a single tune.

But more in the spirit of the question, I’d say Popoids and Construx. A few days ago I looked up the Universal Connector Kit to see if any more pieces had been added (there haven’t been) and got to thinking about my favorite building blocks from when I was a kid. Popoids were these plastic tubes, like the bendy bit of a straw, that attached to plastic blocks. And Construx were kind of like plastic construction beams that could be built up into three dimensions.
Why? Honestly, just for nostalgia’s sake.
New LJ feature – Tumblr feed on the new Friends Feed!
I’m giving LJ’s new layout another try (it’s ~80% of the way to convincing me to switch permanently) and took a look to see if there have been any changes to the new friends feed (~95% done, in my opinion.) And right at the top of the widget sidebar was a big “Login to Tumblr” button. Holy crap, they made my idea a reality. Now if only there were a way to repost from Tumblr to LJ like you can do with the Twitter and Instagram feeds and I’d be a truly happy camper.
If you want to check it out, first you need to be using LJ’s new site design (click on the link on the homepage to test it out.) Then, you need to use the /feed page [ http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/feed/ ] instead of the /friends page [ http://exampleusername.livejournal.com/feed/ ], making sure to use your own username – the feed widgets are only visible to you on your own /feed page, not anywhere else nor to anyone else. And if you find the colors too bright/awful/distracting, click on the gear icon on the left of the page to choose your own colors for the /feed page.
