The Thrilling Adventure Hour at SF Sketchfest

Had a great time this past weekend, starting with the Rifftrax: Night of the Shorts 5 on Thursday. I got to the Castro Ttheatre about twenty minutes early, had to park about six blocks up the hill, and found a seat just before the show started. Great show, lots of fun. My favorite short was definitely "Live and Learn", a 50's era PSA about childhood accidents. After the show I got Paul F Tompkins’ signature in my Thrilling Adventure Hour graphic novel, and then I had to walk six blocks back up the hill to get to the car. That last block was a killer.

Saturday I ended getting to the theatre almost an hour early. Traffic was lighter than I thought, and on my second pass by the theatre I found a parking spot just half a block away. The lobby of the Brava Theater isn’t very large, so I spent most of the time just looking at the few pieces of art and waiting. I chatted with Hal Lublin a bit (got his autograph) and got to talk to the TAH merch crew behind the desk. I heard the band rehearsing the Captain Laserbeam theme, but John DiMaggio wasn’t on the cast list so I hoped it meant we were getting a Philip Fathom sketch.

The show was great. I got a couple of pictures inside the theatre – first of the pre-show look before the show began, and one during Beyond Belief. Adam Savage had a small role in Philip Fathom, and Annie Savage played an Investigateen.

After the show I got a picture with Hal, and got to chat with and take a picture with Marc Evan Jackson.

I like how the cast are trying to one up each other in ownership of my book. And the Bens signed the author page, of course.
