30 Days of the Thrilling Adventure Hour – Days 1 and 16

Over on Tumblr there’s a writing prompt going around for fans of the Thrilling Adventure Hour and somehow it passed me by until now. So to catch up, two a day!

Day One – Tell us how you got into The Thrilling Adventure Hour!

It was a couple of days before our first trip out to San Francisco and I was driving home when I heard a story on NPR about the Thrilling Adventure Hour. Having grown up listening to old-time radio on CHUM-FM out of Toronto, I was thrilled (no pun intended) that there was this new take available.

So that night after dinner I downloaded the first thirty episodes that were available on iTunes to the iPod and listened to the first one – Beyond Belief: The Devil and Mr. Jones. Being a big fan of the Thin Man, I was even further hooked.

I listened to a bunch more episodes on the flight out to California and on my frequent BART rides into the city. The stories were engaging, the writing was sharp and funny, and the acting was superb. By the time we left California I was hooked, and until recently I made sure never to miss an episode as soon as it came out.

Day Sixteen – Fan Works

I’m not big on writing fanfic, but I did ask for a TAH story for last year’s . I do really dig this story called “I Linger On, Dear” by cosmogyral. They take the original premise of Beyond Belief, that of Frank drinking himself to death to join Sadie on the other side, and applied it to the characters as we know and love them now.
